Early Days

This is Detroit in all its gloomy glory.

View from my plane, we floated through very thin cloud and the sunset was reflected on it, very cool!

"Do not Grab" hahaha as if you could, or maybe its a message to superman =P

So I landed in Detroit on the 25th, my second Christmas, at about 8pm. So over travelling as usual after flying so long. I got a 2 seats to myself on one side so I could semi lie down and sleep. I had an unplanned stop at Papeete in Tahiti, which I was thankful for because, as I changed planes I got 5 minutes of real Christmas weather, warm, humid and AWESOME!
I sat next to a very chatty lady between LA and Detroit. She gave me her details and invited me to stay with her for a while haha random!
As I left my hotel and went to the bus station, which I might add, leaves a LOT to be desired in terms of punctuality and organisation!, some guy saw me trying to pull 3 bags and said loudly that chivalry was not dead and he would help me pull them inside. He made a huge deal and pulled them to a seat and them proceeded to sit next to me and tell me he was homeless and could I spare some money. As we sat inside I noticed the strong odor of WINE! on his breath and pulled out a dollar, he mentioned helpfully that Hungry Jacks would cost him $3, and sensing that he could and most likely would cause a scene if I didn't pay up for his "chivalry" of pulling my bags inside a whole 10metres. So I paid up. Unfortunately too, because now I had no change left over for food, meaning, ironically, that I missed out on lunch. I had to change buses in a place called Toledo. A young man helped me there, although I did ask him first if the price was $3. He laughed at my story and promised not to charge me. I got picked up and delivered to my house! I have 4 flatmates and a bulldog now =) let the good times roll!
